Remember when QR Codes started to pop up a few years ago? If not, it’s probably because the use of QR Codes never really became wildly popular, most likely because people had to download an external app in order to utilize it, which many consumers didn’t want to do.

Since then, improvements to the accessibility of using a QR Code have been made, eliminating the need for an external app. Now it’s super easy! Just scan a QR Code using the camera on any mobile device.

Fast forward to 2020 and due to the pandemic, QR Code technology has really helped restaurants stay a head of the curve by enhancing the guest experience by providing additional safety measures with multiple contactless options.

Contactless Payments: Scan to Pay

Print a QR Code at the bottom of the receipt which links directly to a secure payment area, eliminating the time spent to collect and return a credit card to a customer and reducing exposure of multiple touch points with a guest credit card.

Digital Menu

A branded table tent card on each table with a QR Code allows guests to access a digital menu; minimizing exposure to coated menus and saving restaurants money on printing single use disposal menus.

Dine-in Menu

QR Codes that link to a Dine-in Menu is very similar to a Digital Menu and Kiosk. Guests can scan the QR code, access the menu and place their order when they are ready, without waiting for a server to arrive and take their order. Additionally, when guests place their own orders, there are less mistakes due to miscommunications.

Online Ordering

Stay top of guests’ mind when they are no longer at your restaurant with accessible QR Codes at the host stand or on the door linking to your online ordering menu. Guests can now take you with them and you’ll be top of mind when they are looking for their next take out or delivery meal option.

Increase Social Media Engagements

Strategically place marketing materials with a QR Code linking to your social media. Guests can immediately follow and engage with you on social media and you can market to them online.

Implementing QR Code technology is an easy way for you to enhance the guest experience and keep them coming back.

Speak with your point of sale provider to ensure that you are correctly linking QR Codes to your contactless payment options, digital menus and online ordering so they are integrated into your point of sale for correct processing and reporting.
